Are you not sure which labels will work with your printer or pharmacy software? Do you want to make sure the label design you want will work with your printing system? We know this can be confusing, which is why we’ve introduced a new feature to our website: The Label Wizard. By answering a few simple questions, you can use it to find the labels you need.
How to Access the Label Wizard
We wanted to make it very easy for users to find the Label Wizard, so there’s
several ways to get started. You can find a “Label Wizard” button towards the
top of our product category pages as well as a button on the right of most
pages that says, “Need Prescription Labels?” You can also simply
click on this link to be taken directly
there.
Were you interrupted the last time you were using the Wizard? After clicking on
the link, it will ask you if you want to restore your last session. If you
select “yes,” it will bring you back to where you left off.
Select Your Veterinary Software
Each veterinary software suite has its own labels format. By selecting your
software, the Label Wizard will be able to show you labels that have features
like warning labels and graphics that won’t get in the way of the text. This
software is grouped into three categories:
- AVImark, Intravet, DVMAX, DVM Manager, Vetstar, VeTech, eVetPractice
- ImproMed/Infinity and Advantage
- IDEXX, VPM, IDEXX Better Choice and IDEXX Cornerstone
Is your software package not listed, or you’re looking to
reorder labels? Select Option 4, “Software Unknown or Unlisted.” This lets you
find a label by its size and appearance.
Need a general-purpose label? Select the last option, “Mailing, Multi-Purpose
and Blank Labels.”
Selecting the Label Composition
Depending on your software, there may be two label types available: a one-piece
label or a two-piece label that has a perforated edge. With a two-piece label,
you can print the drug information all at once, then place the larger label on
the medicine bottle and the smaller one on the paperwork that goes with the
medication.
Selecting Your Printer
Depending on your software, you may need to pick the label printer that you
use, either a Dymo or an Eltron/Zebra printer.
Eltron, Eltron-Zebra and Zebra printers all use the same printer design, and
can all use the same labels. The name was changed after Eltron was bought by Zebra
Technologies.
Label Appearance
Here you’ll be able to choose the label design you want. If you selected your
veterinary software in an earlier step, the designs you’ll be shown shouldn’t
interfere with the information that your printer will put on the label. In most
cases, you’ll have three options:
- A blank background
- A label with a warning at the bottom: “Keep Out of Children’s Reach – For Veterinary Use Only”
- Other background options like a vet symbol or paw print, usually in combination with the warning.
Once you’ve made this last selection, the Label Wizard will show you the right labels to order and will even take you to the product page.
